Our 2010 projects (4 Jan 2010)
2009 was a busy year for the Monteverdi ensembles - we look back on successful tours throughout Europe and in New York, most recently with Handel's Israel in Egypt and Haydn's oratorios The Creation and The Seasons, as well as an acclaimed run of Bizet's Carmen at the Opéra Comique in Paris.
It has been our pleasure to welcome you to these concerts, and we thank you for your warm support. We hope to see you at our performances in 2010, when our projects will again take us to a number of European cities - including several in the UK.
In April and May, we look forward to a European tour of Bach's Mass in B Minor with the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists, which will take us not only to Spain, Germany and the Czech Republic but also to the Festivals in Brighton and Aldeburgh.
In June, John Eliot Gardiner and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique will return to the Opéra Comique in Paris for a third residency, with Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande.
The English Baroque Soloists will present two Bach programmes in the summer: Orchestral Suites in Germany and Italy, and the Brandenburg Concertos in London and Germany, following the release of their very successful recording in October last year.
2010 also marks the 400th anniversary of Monteverdi's masterpiece - and the piece with which John Eliot Gardiner launched the Monteverdi Choir - the Vespers of 1610. In October, the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists will celebrate the anniversary by taking this magnificent work on a European tour, with concerts planned in London, Oxford and Gateshead.
Finally, in October 2010, the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique will present an exciting programme of Schumann and Brahms, in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and France.
All dates and details will soon be posted on this website in the "What's On" section, where you will be able to find the relevant programme and booking information.
